小鳥さん達が窓の外ですばらしいリズムの求愛ソングを歌っています。
そろそろ秋風が吹き始めています。

宿題に煮詰まり、なぜかケール青汁を作ってみました。なかなかいけます。

食習慣の違う国でのビタミン不足が留学生の課題のようなので、
地元食材に少しは詳しくなろうと思います。味付けは日本食ですが～

やっぱり食は精神安定でしょうか。チーズと小麦粉と砂糖たっぷりの食事を
毎日食べていると何だか悶々としてきてしまいました。
みそとコメベースに切り替え中です。

全米スシブームの最中、先週は簡単なまき寿司作って学生に異様に喜ばれました。
日本食レストランで巻き寿司ごとてんぷらになって出てきたのには笑いましたが・・
しかも中にクリームチーズが入ってますし。

アメリカの金融救済プランは7000億ドルという、
確かイラク戦争の出費もぶっとぶようなとんでもない費用・・を国際市場から
調達するそうですが・・大統領選以前に国の行方が危ぶまれます・・

Hot, flood, crowded- Thomas Friedman's lecture

One of the best things in Duke is we are exposed to chance to hear the world's best lectures throughout the year. This monday I heard Thomas Friedman's lecture on his latest book "Hot, Flood, and Crowded". His main argument was energy techonology revolution is only the way American economy revives. His speech was filled with a sense of cricis on climate change.
What I felt most interesting was, he wisely linked fall of American economy and market chance in green technology. He told the green technology would be(must be, otherwise we might extinct) the biggest revolution human ever experienced, and it would be the last chance for America to get rise again in international economy. He also mentioned about collapse of US political system. It can be taken either as a suggestion for a wide shift to strong state level autonomy, or as a reform of D.C.

As he says, strength of America must be the fronteer spirit and social engine for innovation.
What I feel here in America is though, week hope for future compared to those of newly emerged countries. And social system which sustains US competitivity is collapsing. Of course US economy is still biggest producer and consumer in the world, and people are active than Japanese (inherently). However in personal level, I don't meet so many people who have positive future vision except entreprenuer-type of people. Nevertheless students here should be future leader of society and economy?!?!
After financial system had huge damage, can this country draw new big picture?
Now I'm interested in what is the success factors of EU governance and economy, compared to that of USA.

So many things here.

Most of the time of my day is spent on reading and hearing lecture. In the past one month, my speaking and writing hasn't improved at ALL. Age deterioration of my brain is so horrible. And young guys learn just so fast!! I need to switch from thinking in Japanese to English. So I decided to post my diary sometimes in English.
Almost everyday I come back to home past 12pm. Amazing. I never think I could stay such a long time in the same place. Actually our campus is too huge to get bored even I stay 24 hours. Almost everything I want is equiped. Oh, of course, except satisfying cuisines. I already gave up my expectation to foods here. But we have gyms, lecture halls, music halls, a musium, forest park, gardens, a huge church, cafes and libraries. Even a branch of a karate organization where I practiced in Tokyo,,, it means, so many cultural temptations, and my life will be enriched with "cost-free high cultures". Cool!
Actually, the university seems to put too much budget to activities other than academics!
Past weeks I explored other highly recognized schools of Duke such as Sanford institute and Fuqua business school, and now dreaming my image of impactful interdisciplinary study.

ベストパフォーマンス。

国際社会では、
たゆまぬ努力が要求されます。。
しかも相当な努力が・・・
しかもベストパフォーマンスが・・・
外国人なので、常にどう見られるかも考えるし、
中々気が抜けません。。

外国人だからしょーがないもん、という言い訳に逃げるか、
ハンディを克服するか、どちらかしかありません。ま、どこにいても
同じ事ですね。

怠け症の私は、目の前に続く長～～い道のりを前に、
しょっちゅう必要量の10％ぐらいでギブアップしてしまってます。
でも今しかないこの瞬間、この機会。
初心に常に帰ってガンバラナイト。

美人だらけです

大学構内ですが、何だかスッゴイ美人がいっぱいいます。
特に北欧系の金髪碧眼色白の美女とか、
ラテン系の浅黒い肌の美女とかは、あまり日本では見かけないので、
思わずじーっと見てしまいます。
男だったら幸せだったのになぁ～。
アメリカは、ハンサムな男の人は何か少ないっす。
男はやっぱり中身だよね・・・うん・・・

女だからとか、女の割にすごいとか、男だからとかいうのが存在しません。
キャラとおつむの向上に専念できるのは、いい事です。
でも、ここでは女性の華やかさがいい意味ですごく目立っている気がします。
大声ではきはきしゃべるしとても朗らかな彼女たちに、見習おう～です。

何か硬いことばかり書いていますが・・・
実際はぐにゃぐにゃした時間を沢山過ごしていますが、そこははしょって。

がっちり先行投資してばしばしにビジネススキル磨いた人が、
真剣に社会を変えたると言っているのは、かなり説得力あります。
自己犠牲でなく、しっかり稼いでしっかり貢献！気持ちよいです。世界中のビジネスが
こうだったらさぞかし良かろうに、、というか、自分達の手で近づけるために今勉強
しているわけですが。

彼らを見ていると自分の甘さを感じます。
妄信でなく科学的に猛進。社会にもたらす価値とインパクトを大きく！
そして三方よし。高い志で、起業家達は妥協なき努力をしている。
過信しない目標追求は本質に通ず。

Social whistle point（Copyright by 私の師匠？？
最も効率的に変化が起きる社会のあるポイントのこと。それどこ？？）も、
自分の達成すべき課題として考えた時に仮説が見つかるのでしょう。
（世界が平和になるといいなぁ～　と思っても何も変わらないし。。）

自分が作り出せる最大解を設定して取り組む。
他人の出した解も頭を使って考える。
皆で解を考える！
当たり前のようでできていなかった事でした。

Fuqua Japanese

今日はFuqua business schoolの日本人学生さんの集まりに寄せて頂きました。
MBAだけあって、コミュニティがとてもいい形にできています。常々、MBAの方々
には学ぶ所が多々ありです。

何とわらびもちを作って来て下さった奥様がいらっしゃり、それも涙ものでした。
おせんべい、ポッキーなども頂く事ができました。うるうる・・

普段から低レベルな英語を使って判断・思考していたので、久々に日本語で考え、
クリアな思考の人達と話しながら思考を深められたのもよかったです。
（今後の自分の判断に不安を覚えますが・・）

MBAにあるポジティブ・クリエイティブ・ロジカルな”感覚”は、とても気持ちの
よいものです。Fuquaは世界トップクラスのMBAなのでだいぶん雲の上ですが、
彼らの学びレベル・目指す人材像を大いに参考にさせて頂きたいです。Nicholas
は学生出身者が多いので、プロフェッショナリズムやシビアさの面で自分の中に
甘えが出てしまうのです。

Fuquaには、日本で関っていた自然エネルギーやソーシャルアントレに関心の
ある方も沢山いるので、これを機会にネットワークを作っていきたいと思っています。
